Throughout the Bible, we see passages that condemn people who are capable of working and have the opportunity to work but don’t because of laziness. For example, Proverbs 10:4 says, “He who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.” You can also find more reference in 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12.
A few weeks ago, my husband and I cleared out trees, weeds, bushes, and leaves that we had been “talking” about doing for 3 years – 3 years! We spent a solid 8 hours clearing it all out. At the end of the day, we both looked at each other and said, “Wow. We did it. We actually got this done after talking about it for so long.” The feeling of being a “doer” instead of a “say-er” was absolutely incredible. Why did it take us so long to just do it? We decided that instead of continuously questioning why it took so long, that we would take what we had done and be happy with it and continue to do more “doing”.
In the last month, God has placed two words on my heart and in my Spirit: Do/Doing and Entitlement. When in prayer, I asked Him to show me more about what He wanted me to know with this word – Do. Why do? What does this mean? The next day, as I was talking to my step-sister on the phone and it hit me! He just flat out told me what it was!
“DO” IS HIS CALL TO ACTION! He kept saying, “It is my call to action. This word is more than just a word, it holds weight with the action it entails.”. I immediately gave praise and thanks for the discernment He was giving me.
The Holy Spirit is sweeping through His followers and has given us a Call to Action word. We need to DO more and SAY less. No matter what you are going through today, it could be something super small in priority or a huge life decision, but either way, you must keep DOING!
I hear people say all the time, “Let go and let God.”. Well, to be honest, I absolutely do not like that phrase or quote. Yes, I one-hundred percent believe that God is in control of my life, however, I do not know everyone else’s relationship with Him. Are you giving Him something to work with? You can’t just sit around, loathe in self-pity and not be seeking Him, reading His truth, or in prayer and expect God to just make your life happen for you. You have to self-evaluate your attitude. God cares about our attitudes because they shape what we say and what we do. Paul stated:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2.Romans 12:2 NKJV
We produce the fruit of the Spirit by DOING; seeking, praying, filling up in Spirit, helping others, walking with Christ, meditating on His word, strengthening our faith, watching our words, etc. The laziness and sloth-like attitudes and entitlement that everything should be done for you or by someone else, must stop. It has to end if you want to grow. We are ambassadors of Christ!
What will help us flourish in our work? Having attitudes that are consistent with Gods Word. In His Word, Paul gives us an incredible example of Godly attitude through humility. Oh yes, friends, humility. I personally love it. It is an open invitation to healing and growth. Paul embraces humility. In Romans 12, he explains how every-single-one of us has unique gifts and roles and that we NEED each other. Read his analogy in Romans 12:3. Being humble allows us to be open to hearing other ideas and opinions with good intention and not to debate who is right or wrong. Attitude, attitude, attitude.
I have talked to many people about this Call to Action and trust me, I am not the only one receiving this discernment from Him. So many followers have been receiving it, as well. Even people that I mentor that do not have a super strong relationship with Christ are seeing the works of God and the change of their attitudes, perceptions, and thinking by just DOING.
I have suffered from OCD and Bi-Polar Depression for almost 15 years now. I know how it feels to not have the motivation or the drive to even get up and eat. So hear me when I say (and believe that I know what I am talking about), that it has to start with YOU. Every little or big step you take towards DOING is absolutely worth a celebration. I will celebrate those steps with you, Beloveds, you just have to stand up and – walk.
Let’s pray together and then tomorrow or even right after prayer, focus your eyes on Him and say, “I am ready to walk. I am ready to do.” You will see a transformation, my friend. Let us pray:
“Father God, thank you for allowing this platform to reach the ones you love. Today we come to you tired of living our lives with a negative attitude. Father, we want to be a blessing to people and those we love, and we know we can be if we just surrender our pride and negative thinking to You. Lord, we are humbled by Your grace and we praise You for it, Father! Thank You for giving us the faith to forgive one another and to be focused on You in every circumstance. Your Word says if we trust You, you will not be disappointed. We know You’re able to change our circumstances at any moment. We want to prove to You whether You decide to change our circumstances or not, we will serve You. Lord, we are determined to live with an attitude that glorifies You. Help us to keep our hearts humble and our minds focused on you. In times of sorrow or negativity, we will remind ourselves to keep our eyes on the one true King. In the name of your son, Jesus, Amen.”

You Him and Her
